For the Chelsea goalkeeper, the English League Cup final is a curse.
The Spaniard is currently second only to Mandy at Chelsea after Mandy,
but due to his record-breaking defense, he has been linked with a move to the Champions League shortly before the end of the season.
In fact, Chelsea won the European Super Cup this season thanks to Kipa,
who replaced Mandy in the 119th minute with two saves from Villarreal in the penalty shoot-out.
In Sunday night’s game against Liverpool, Tuchel sent Kipa into the same penalty, but this time it did not work.
He came on as a substitute for the penalty, but Kipa allowed every shot from Liverpool.
The final goal was a goalless draw, with Liverpool’s Kelly steady, but Kipa, who in turn, fired home, leaving Chelsea in second place.
Three years ago, in 2019, Kipa had a nightmare in the penalty shoot-out in the League Cup final.
He was Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper at the time under Sari.
In the final against Manchester City, Sari refused to leave the club to replace full-back Carvalho in a penalty shoot-out,
and the incident became a sensation in world football.
Coincidentally, in the penalty shoot-out, Kipa lost 4-3 to Manchester City with just one save and was content with second place.
